This is normal. Since you are inserting needles into the body, it is hard to avoid every single blood vessel if you cannot see them. It is not uncommon nor is it bad if one of the points bled. :o )
And, no, it shouldn’t hurt. You might feel the prick of the needles going in, but it shouldn’t be excruciating. You should also feel sensation around where the needle is inserted into the body. If the points hurt too much, let your practitioner know.

Umm.. I thought they debunked bleeding people as a treatment since the 18th century.

  4. fractal420 Says:

I would say a doctor that recommends a psuedoscience to me either thinks I need a placebo or has gone retard, thus time to get a new doctor.

  5. TheNo1Princess Says:

That bleeding was for a totally different reason with a totally different concept behind it. Also unlike that bleeding, which was totally useless and actually harmful, this type has been shown to work for hundreds of years.

  6. fractal420 Says:

Could you point me to a peer reviewed study showing this same conclusion?

  7. TheNo1Princess Says:

Go borrow an acupuncture book from the library and read it. Or, possibly consider the fact that acupuncture, which includes this type of bleeding, has been around for hundreds of years and is still used very successfully while blood letting died out in the Enlightenment Era. If acupuncture was indeed the same as the other type of bleeding, it would have been “debunked” as well since it has spread to other countries as well, but it hasn’t.

  8. fractal420 Says:

I would not get my knowledge from a book about the subject. i want a skeptical peer reviewed source for my knowledge. Wouldn’t you? Many things have been around for hundreds or thousands of years and still have no real world proof. Can you provide an unbiased source for your claims or not?

Its frightening how so many people can be so self righteous, opinionated and narrow minded.
    Acupuncture doesnt work?
Western medical science is in fact more flawed than you would otherwise be led to believe. It is primarily motivated by profit. So off course, if something alternative than cant be patented is going to tread on big pharmas toes you either wont hear about it, it gets banned or gets ridiculed.

  19. kamyad Says:

One of the biggest side affects of anti-depressant drugs is..depression & suicidal tendencies. See anything wrong with that picture!..yet they continue to prescribe them indiscriminately like candy!…and you guys make a big fuss over a what might be 5ml of blood?

  20. stealthesdragon2 Says:

with traditional Chinese medicine. its really hard to find the proof western medicine wants because you cannot submit TCM to the western scientific method. in wholistic medicine the doctor understands that each person, no matter how similar symptoms and problem may be to others, has his or her own treatment since everyone is different. So you would have to find a few hundred of the same person at the same time and that’s not possible. if you read a good acupuncture book you will see why.

  21. stealthesdragon2 Says:

you may also ask why 140,000 people a year die in the US from the side effects of prescription drugs that most of the time only treat the symptom and not the cause. wow thats the 5th leading causes of death in the U.S. Only around 50 a year in TCM related death in the US and most of the time there is no proof its a direct cause of the treatment. When something lasts not hundreds but thousands of years and now in this day and age is starting to be used internationally you dont need peer reviews.

No gloves? Working with blood without gloves? Glad to see h’s not pretending to be a doctor. I think most people stopped doing this kind of “treatment” over 100 years ago.
